Rohan graduated from the National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli with a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering in 2010. He had a penchant for applying the concepts learnt at school and witnessing them in action. In his senior year, the amalgamation of that passion and his interest in robotics led to the inception of BitBot, a social startup, which focused on sharing and teaching skills to students by conducting workshops across the country. Besides giving him a sense of accomplishment, it exposed him to the finer aspects of teaching and entrepreneurship.

After graduation, he joined Goldman Sachs as an Analyst in the Technology Division. He started off in Prime Brokerage Core Technology which owned the framework responsible for generating & distributing close to a million daily reports to its clients (largely consisting of hedge fund managers and institutional investors). He worked on projects involving overhaul of their complete platform and optimization of the various processes increasing overall efficiency and meeting new business & regulatory requirements. Later, he moved to Securities Lending Technology to gain exposure to a different business vertical. There, he worked closely with quantitative analysts on rolling out a new offering that would optimize the firm’s balance sheet usage by the securities lending desk and increase Return on Attributed Equity (ROAE), a direct impact on the firm’s bottom line. He passed levels 1 and 2 of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) program in order to strengthen his mathematical and business acumen.

Working daily with large amounts of data and witnessing the data explosion that gripped the world around piqued his interest to delve deeper into the world of data science. He is looking forward to honing his skills and exploring its various applications particularly in deep machine learning, predictive analytics & data visualization. He hopes to make a meaningful contribution to multiple sectors in the industry and to the community as a data scientist.
