A native of Evanston, IL, Julia attended Washington University in St. Louis where she earned a B.S. in Systems Science and Engineering and a minor in Mathematics. Her desire to apply math to make real world business decisions led her to the field of economic consulting after graduation.

During the next four years in Washington, D.C., Julia worked with large, complex datasets to provide insights to clients in a variety of industries. In the Antitrust practice at Charles River Associates, she cleaned and analyzed subscriber level datasets to determine post-merger pricing effects in a multi-billion dollar telecommunications merger. These analyses were the foundation of the client’s merger case brought to the Federal Trade Commission. In her next position as a Senior Analyst at NERA Economic Consulting, Julia transitioned to working in the energy and electricity industry. She conducted analyses of federal climate proposals using a quadratic programming model that quantified electric sector and macroeconomic impacts. She also developed a SQL database to aggregate operating data on thousands of electrical generating units to more efficiently update this model.

Julia looks forward to building on her engineering education and consulting industry experience in Northwestern’s MSiA program. She is eager to apply computational and statistical knowledge from the classroom to help businesses make data-driven decisions.
