Originally from Suwanee, Georgia, Kate graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology in May of 2015, with a degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering and minors in French Language and Computational Data Analysis. Through her coursework, she developed a passion for the intersection of operations research, computer science, and statistics. She finds the broad range of applications for analytics both appealing and overwhelming when considering the range of problems to solve.

Her manufacturing internship with the Eaton Corporation helped show her the power of data-driven solutions. Her role in using data analysis to drive a software solution saved the company $2,500 a year, prevented many quality issues, and improved the work quality of the machine operators. The software she wrote is being used a year later on the production floor, and has been expanded to other assembly lines. The impact that was made possible from such a relatively small project makes Kate eager to hone her skills and tackle larger problems in industry today.
