Born and raised in Florida, Kelsey attended the University of Florida where she graduated cum laude with a B.S. in Mathematics and minors in Chinese and Business Administration. She enriched her undergraduate experience by spending a summer improving her Chinese at Tsinghua University in Beijing, China, and another summer working as team lead for an NSF-funded mathematics research project at UCLA.

After graduation, excited to put her analytical skills to use, Kelsey moved to Washington, D.C. to take a position as a Business Intelligence Analyst with LivingSocial. There, she was responsible for working with LivingSocial’s massive data sets - cleansing, manipulating, and extracting the data necessary to answer the business questions of teams throughout the organization. It was incredibly thrilling and empowering for her to be able to communicate results to business teams, and to help those teams make unbiased, data-driven decisions. Kelsey’s most recent position was in Colorado as a Technical Account Manager for Oracle’s new Data Cloud business, where she was the main technical contact for several large accounts, including Google. This experience involved daily interaction with large-scale data storage and transfer, as well as working closely with development teams to build new products and optimize existing products both internally and for clients and partners.

Kelsey is eager to dedicate herself to continued learning in the MSiA program at Northwestern University, where she can improve upon her analytical background, and the programming and statistical knowledge needed for efficient, cutting edge data analysis. She looks forward to collaborating with other students in the program and learning from their experiences, ultimately applying her data science skills in an industry where she can make improvements in efficiency, profitability, and decision making.
