Richard Lueptow

Richard LueptowSenior Associate Dean for Operations and Research

Dean Lueptow oversees three areas:

  1. Research, including research centers, appointments, research accounting issues, and interactions with the Vice President for Research
  2. Administration, including departmental operations, McCormick operations, and interactions with NUIT
  3. Financial oversight, including financial operations and planning, salaries and annual reports, the general McCormick budget, and financial administration of the professional masters programs.

Lueptow has worked in the Office of the Dean since late 2007 and has been a professor of mechanical engineering since 1988. His research interests and expertise range from fundamental flow physics to water purification on manned spacecraft to planetary acoustics.

Lueptow co-directs the Master of Product Design and Development Management Program, which focuses on training mid-career engineers and scientists in product design and development for today's global marketplace.

He has a BS in engineering from Michigan Technological University and an SM and ScD in mechanical engineering from MIT.
