Ajit Tamhane
Senior Associate Dean for Planning and Graduate Studies
Dean Tamhane is responsible for:
- faculty hiring, including negotiations, start-up packages, hiring plans;
- space and resource allocation, and building planning and renovation projects; and
- graduate studies, including fellowship allocation.
Tamhane joined the Office of the Dean in 2008 and has been a professor of industrial engineering and management sciences at McCormick since 1975.
His research interests include statistical multiple-decision procedures (ranking and selection, multiple comparisons), design of experiments, biostatistics, and engineering statistics.
Tamhane was previously the chair of the Department of Industrial Engineering and Management Sciences. He has a B. Tech. in mechanical engineering from Indian Institute of Technology in Bombay, India, and an MS and PhD from Cornell University.
